Kristin Tassi | President

Kristin Tassi is the founder and president of Tassi Communications. She provides senior-level counsel to clients across multiple industries, from Fortune 100 healthcare and automotive companies to political advocacy organizations and nonprofits.

Kristin works hand-in-hand with the firm’s clients to intimately understand their business objectives and execute comprehensive communications campaigns that deliver measurable results. Through this collaboration, her team is able to find and tell stories that build credibility, create differentiation in a crowded marketplace, and position brands and leaders as experts, influencers, and contributors to the communities they serve.

Since founding Tassi Communications, Kristin has lead a local media campaign for one of the nation’s largest pharmacies, earning significant press coverage for both its in-house flu shot program and largest annual philanthropic initiative; directed a multi-year grassroots and media relations campaign for a Fortune 10 automaker to improve its reputation and increase its local market share; managed an earned media and influencer campaign enabling a Fortune 100 company to retain a direct relationship with its employees through a union election; and produced a series of educational events on behalf of the largest health carrier in the U.S., surpassing attendance objectives through a comprehensive grassroots marketing effort.

Julie Thorson | Account Director

Julie Thorson joined Tassi Communications, Inc. in 2019, bringing more than a decade of public relations experience to her role as Public Relations Director. She has spearheaded countless PR campaigns, handling strategic planning, creative pitching, event management and more, always striving to exceed client

She began her career at Weber Shandwick, where she specialized in consumer brand publicity and worked with many national accounts including KFC, Oscar Mayer, Kraft and Degree, among others. Most recently, she was an Executive Director and Partner at Isabelli Media Relations, a boutique agency in Chicago, where she implemented successful local and national media relations campaigns for chefs, restaurants, retail and lifestyle brands, including Bon Appétit presents Chicago Gourmet, Illinois Restaurant Association, InterContinental Hotel Chicago, ACME Hotel, and Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, among others.

Julie’s experience working with a diverse group of clients has made her an expert at identifying and sharing compelling stories on behalf of her clients on the local and national levels. From spearheading the media relations efforts for Chicago Gourmet, one of the country’s largest food and wine festivals, to heading up the PR campaigns for openings of some of Chicago’s most renowned restaurants and hotels, to implementing social media strategies for clients ranging from national brands that are household names to independent James Beard award-winning restaurants, she enjoys the variety and excitement that comes with every campaign.

Specializing in strategic media relations campaigns for clients from coast to coast, Julie has secured coverage in top media outlets such as the Good Morning America, Today Show, USA Today, People, Us Weekly, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Chicago Sun-Times and countless others. An Illinois native, Julie holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Illinois State University and has called Chicago home for nearly 15 years.
